SWEDISH MASSAGE ~ Breathing/Relaxing ~ Pressure ~ Contact us for an appointment Healthy Motions® Massage Therapy
This Classic Massage includes full-body work for increased circulation and relaxation of the muscles. The massage therapist can use long gliding strokes, circular strokes, friction, kneading with the palms and fingers and percussion with the palms and fists.
DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE ~
In this form of massage therapy, the therapist addresses specific areas of the body typically with more pressure applied in order to release muscle knots and tension in that area. This work is done in conjunction with the client's relaxed rhythmic breathing. The massage therapist can use forearms, elbows, and fists as tools.
Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT)/Trigger Point Therapy ~
Using this technique, the therapist applies gradually increasing pressure at specific points along the musculature, where dysfunctional tissues, also known as trigger points or knots, are commonly present. Trigger points are usually muscle adhesions, which lack adequate circulation, impede range of motion, entrap nerves, and refer pain to other parts of the body when touched. The aim of NMT is to deactivate these trigger points by applying direct pressure using fingers, thumbs or a NMT tool.
Stretching/Range of Motion ~
This massage technique includes stretching muscles and moving various body parts, such as the arms, legs, or neck to increase mobility and flexibility of muscles and joints, and to provide space for muscle relaxation.
It is beneficial for the client to focus on rhythmic breathing by utilizing deep, complete, and relaxing inhalations and exhalations during the massage session to aid in relaxing the muscles, releasing muscle knots, and calming the mind.
The massage therapist can vary the pressure of the touch according to the client's preference and communication, and in conjunction with the client’s relaxed rhythmic breathing.
